The Pirate Code

Definitely more than just guidelines!

As every Pirate ship needs a code or set of rules to live by, so does the Order of the Kraken, its very own Pirata Codex.

The Pirate Code, also known as the Pirate Articles, was a set of guidelines that governed the behaviour of pirates and pirate crews during the Golden Age of Piracy (approximately 1650 to 1730).

The code varied from crew to crew, but it generally outlined the rules for how loot was to be divided, how disputes were to be settled, and what the penalties were for breaking the rules.

While it might be more fun to have a Pirate Code that stipulates:

"Each man shall keep his piece, pistols, and cutlass clean and ready for action"

"Every man shall have an equal title to fresh provisions or strong liquors,"

"If any man shall offer to run away, or keep any secret from the company, he shall be marooned with one bottle of powder, one bottle of water, one bayonet, and one hourglass."

nonetheless, we as a Project undertake to abide by the following:

Transparency:

We will be transparent about our Project's goals, operations, and financials. We will provide regular updates on our progress and be open to answering any questions from our community.

Fairness:

We will treat all participants in our Project with fairness and respect. We will ensure that our platform is accessible to everyone and that our decision-making process is fair and unbiased.

Ownership:

We will respect the ownership rights of all creators and the holders of their NFTs. We will not use any aspects of other NFTs without the express consent of the creators or holders, and we will not use NFTs in ways that could harm their value or reputation.

Security:

We will take all necessary measures to ensure the security and integrity of our platform and NFTs. We will keep up-to-date with best practices for blockchain security and will promptly address any vulnerabilities that are discovered.

Environmental Responsibility:

We will take steps to minimise the environmental impact of our project. We will strive to reduce our energy consumption and promote sustainable practices in the NFT ecosystem.

Legal Compliance:

We will at all times use best practise to comply with all relevant laws and regulations pertaining to our Project and the NFT space.

Community Building:

We will foster a strong, inclusive and supportive community. Encouraging and promoting the exchange of ideas and knowledge to support both the OTK and wider NFT ecosystem.
